Meet Dr. Hilmi
Born and raised in Westchester County, Dr. Matthew Hilmi is a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley. He currently lives in Rhinebeck, NY.
Dr. Hilmi was the first double degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon to establish a private practice in the Hudson Valley, having graduated from both dental(DMD) and medical school(MD) with distinguished honors status. The doctor has chosen to limit his practice to the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Matthew Hilmi is one of the only oral and maxillofacial surgeons to provide active hospital care, with full admitting privileges, in the Hudson Valley region. His training includes several years of intensive hospital-based residency at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The doctor’s surgical skills have been perfected through more than two decades of postgraduate practice experience and thousands of hours of continuing medical education. Dr. Hilmi stays up to date on the latest advances in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery to provide the most current treatment options available for his patients. The doctor is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
As a surgeon, he recognizes that his patients are unique individuals that place a tremendous amount of trust in his entire team and associated network of health care providers. That trust is a matter of pride and honor forming the cornerstone of his practice.
Dr. Hilmi has spent many hours over the past 25 years volunteering humanitarian services on missions in South America. Those charitable projects provided hundreds of surgical repairs of both cleft palate deformities and facial injuries for indigent populations of that region.
Dr. Hilmi and his staff appreciate the fact that most regional healthcare professionals refer their patients to the practice. Combining superior surgical skills and knowledge, the team provides the highest quality of individualized oral and maxillofacial surgery available in the entire Hudson Valley.
Outside of his clinical practice, the doctor is a devout Nondenominational Christian and is a Principal of the National Christian Foundation. The doctor is also an avid health food/fitness enthusiast and is currently working towards mastership in the martial art of Hapkido. Dr. Hilmi spends part of his spare time perfecting his aerial photography skills and he is actively pursuing flight instructor certification as a helicopter pilot. His other passions include the fine arts, and he is an established patron/contributor of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In addition, the doctor and his staff often attend and support art exhibits and musical scholarship at Bard College at Annandale-On-Hudson, New York. The doctor is involved in several regional philanthropies.
